Sigmed RAPID DIAGNOSTIC TEST CDV-CPV-CCV-GIA-B 1 PCS distemper, parvovirus, coronavirus, giardia
- CDV, i.e. distemper, is one of the most dangerous viruses that a dog can contract. When the virus enters the body, it attacks the lymphatic organs and therefore causes immunosuppression. Distemper is a highly contagious viral disease of dogs, most often affecting puppies aged 2-5 months. We distinguish the following forms: catarrhal, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, nervous, ocular and cutaneous, therefore the symptoms and course of the disease are very diverse. Quick detection of the cause of the disease will enable effective treatment.
- CPV - canine parvovirus is a viral, infectious and very highly contagious disease, also called canine typhus. Pups and unvaccinated adults most often suffer from parvovirus. The body becomes dehydrated very quickly. The disease occurs in two forms: intestinal (parvovirus gastroenteritis) and cardiac (parvovirus myocarditis). The mortality rate for the intestinal form is quite high, even up to 50%. The cardiac form is characterized by sudden death. The parvovirus vaccine does not provide 100% protection against infection and disease, but it significantly reduces the risk of severe disease and death as a result. Symptoms: lethargy, vomiting and then diarrhea.
- CCV, or canine coronavirus, is a very contagious disease with a course similar to parvovirus. The course of the disease is usually mild and is not life-threatening, but simultaneous infections with parvo and coronavirus are very dangerous. each of these viruses attacks different intestinal cells, and when they work together they seriously damage the intestines. Symptoms: loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, sometimes fever.
- Giardia, or giardiasis, is a parasitic disease caused by giardia and attacks the intestines. Infection occurs when gardia lamblia cysts enter the gastrointestinal tract, most often when a dog drinks water from a contaminated puddle or eats infected feces from another dog. The risk of contracting the disease also occurs in places where large numbers of dogs live - in shelters, dog hotels or kennels. Dogs with weakened immunity are at the highest risk of infection, including: puppies or senior dogs. Symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting, emaciation with good appetite.
